6th Annual MFMC Golf Tournament
- A Huge Success!
The 6th Annual Matthews Free Medical Clinic Golf Tournament was a HUGE success, raising over $67,000 for the Clinic! The event was held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Raintree Country Club. The annual golf tournament is vital to sustaining the free clinic, as we do not receive reimbursements from private insurances, Medicare, Medicaid, nor federal or local government funding. We rely on business and individual donations throughout the year, grant funds from various foundations, and the annual golf tournament to keep our doors open. We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated individual and business contributors.
A lot of time goes into planning the annual MFMC tournament. Volunteers started soliciting sponsors, and prizes for the raffle and silent auction months in advance. Many great items were donated to the event and several local restaurant owners donated gift certificates to be used as prizes for contest winners, raffle, and silent auction. This year’s silent auction raised over $3,000!
Over 20 volunteers helped to make the day a success by helping with golfer registration, goody bags, hat and glove distribution, silent auction, raffle, selling mulligan packages and contest tickets. We are very thankful to the restaurants that provided lunch and dinner for our golfers and volunteers. Penny’s Place of Mint Hill donated box lunches and Maggiano’s Little Italy provided dinner.
